Frances E. Skoglund was born on April 22, 1921, the daughter of John and Alfreda (Lindgren) Henjum. She was one of twelve children. Frances was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith by Pastor Joel Njus at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church, rural New London. She attended school at Arctander Township District 54 through 8th grade. Upon completing school, Frances worked for area families until her marriage. Frances was married to Reuben Skoglund on June 5, 1940 by Pastor Njus. They were blessed with six children: Joyce, Milton, Marilyn, Maurice, Sheryl, and Donald. Frances and Reuben lived and raised their family in the Murdock area until his death in 1973. Frances was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. During her many years as a member of Bethesda she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school Superintendent, President of the WELCA, and a member of the Esther quilting circle. Frances also enjoyed belonging to The Homemaker group and her many travels. She was a very good cook and an excellent lefse maker. Above all Frances loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great -grandchildren. She especially enjoyed family celebrations. Frances was called home to her Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. She had attained the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 21 days. Frances is survived by her children: Joyce (Ralph) Robasse of Buffalo, Milton (Eileen) Skoglund of Clara City, Marilyn (Stanley) Freese of Murdock, Maurice (Sarah) Skoglund of Buffalo, Sheryl Nelson (Larry Doebbert) of Montevideo, and Donald (Jean) Skoglund of Murdock; 15 grandchildren: Sandra (Mike) Underberg, Debra Skoglund, Matthew (Saylor) Skoglund, Stacey Hoidal, Angela Skoglund, Jodie (Chad) Bowman, Cynthia (Scott) Varner, Donald Robasse, Megan Skoglund, Michael Skoglund, Paul Freese, Julie (Aaron) Hess, Jerad (Amy) Skoglund, Carrie (Brad) Wingo, and Hollie (Loren) Molenaar; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur (Ruth) Henjum of Crystal; three sisters: Una Reigstad of Pennock, Delores Roen of Sunburg, and Ramona Frank of Seattle, WA; special family friends, Dale and Barb Erickson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by: her parents, John and Alfreda (Lindgren) Henjum; husband, Reuben Skoglund; son-in-law, David Nelson; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Robasse; and 6 brothers: Marvin, Harold, Elwood, Julian, Burton and Orville Henjum; and one sister, Jeanette Rood. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Murdock. Blessed be the memory of Frances E. Skoglund.
