Gary John Miller was born March 22, 1947, at Appleton to Melvin "Mike" and Marlys (Skjei) Miller. Gary grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School. He enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard and ended his 18 years as a Recruiter. July 2, 1967, he married Marlene Lund and they had two daughters, Kimberly and Bridgett. Gary's life was spent driving truck for Perseke Trucking and farming with the Dale Giese family. He later moved to Hutchinson and married Mary Ruether. In his later years he lived in Willmar with his dog, "Smokie", and daughters and grandchildren. Gary enjoyed telling stories and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion and the 40/8. Gary died on Saturday morning, January 19th, at Rice Care Center in Willmar. He had attained 65 years, 9 months, and 27 days of age. He is survived by two daughters: Kim (Rodney) Gruchow and Bridgett (Scott) Ouren both of Willmar; his mother, Marlys Kashmark, of Appleton; sister, Bonnie (Gil) Schreopfer of Shoreview; four grandchildren: Hailey, MacKenzie, Noah, and Jemma; four step-grandchildren: Cody, Krista (Brian) Stoll, Colleen, and Justin; two step-great-grandchildren: Caleb and Nathan; three nieces: Kristy (Matt) Pederson, Sarah Schreopfer and Mandy Schreopfer; two great-nieces and nephews; and several other relatives. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Melvin "Mike" Miller; grandparents; great-grandparents, and aunts and uncles.
