Homer T. B. Tjosaas

Homer Tremont Bernhard Tjosaas, was born on November 1, 1922, in Benson Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Hans and Tillie Hanson Tjosaas. He was baptized at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Benson area and attended country school in Six Mile Grove and Benson High School. On August 08, 1943, Homer was united in marriage to Ruth Delores Smith by the Rev. M. G. Berg at Ruth's parent's home in Cashel Township, Swift County, Minnesota. Together they were able to share in 56 years of marriage. This union was blessed with three children. Homer was a dairy farmer for most of his life in Six Mile Grove Township. Together they owned and operated the Benson Montgomery Ward's Store for a few years. They also owned and operated the Benson Sales Pavilion for 8 years and he continued to work there until March of 2012. He was active in 4H, was a charter member of the Shamrock Hest Riding Club, and a member of Putts and Purrs Tractor Club. Among the things he enjoyed were horses, fishing, hunting, going to auctions, horse trading, beekeeping and gardening. Homer was called from this life on Sunday October 14, 2012, at the Swift County Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 89 years, 11 months and 17 days. He is survived by his special friend Alice Koenen, of Clara City; his daughter Rosalie McGee, of Benson; his son Danny (Linda) Tjosaas of Long Prairie; a daughter in law, Bonnie Tjosaas of Benson; grandchildren, Rob (Shelia) McGee, Tammy (Pat) Geyer, Todd (fiancé Christi) Tjosaas, Chad (Michelle) McGee, Jess (Angie) McGee, Shauna(Jason)Block, Mike (Sara) McGee, and Josh (fiancé Alyssa) Tjosaas; siblings, Victoria Healy of Minneapolis, Richard (Loretta) Tjosaas of Granite Falls, Eunice (Gerald) Fredericks of Minneapolis, Lyle (Carol) Tjosaas of Kasson, David (Suzanne) Tjosaas of Appleton, Howard (Bonnie) Tjosaas of Bradenton, Florida, Roger (Kathy) Tjosaas of Marshall, Jeannie (Don) Behrens of Granite Falls, and Gary (Sara) Tjosaas of Moorhead. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 2000, his parents Hans and Tillie, one son Ron Tjosaas, one son in law Bob McGee, sister Gladys Bloom, brother Wesley Tjosaas, stepmother Violet Tjosaas, and a half sister Karen Minor.
