Hilda Ruth Pederson, was born on May 18, 1922, in Swift Falls, MN, the daughter of John and Anna Steen Skare. She was baptized on August 05, 1922 and confirmed on May 16, 1937, at Swift Falls Church. She attended school at country school near Swift Falls, District 13. Before her marriage she lived in Swift Falls and did housecleaning and she helped take care of Earl and Dorothy Olson's Children. On November 25, 1944, Hilda was united in marriage to David Pederson, by Pastor MG Berg on the Verlo farm. This union was blessed with 51 years of marriage and two daughters. They lived on a farm in the Swift Falls area, until 1978, when they then moved into Swift Falls. Hilda took care of Andy and Josh while Debbie was working. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Welca, served on the church council, sang in the church choir, active with the circle meetings, and taught sunday school and vacation bible school. Hilda loved to cook and bake especially donuts and cookies. At Christmas time she would bake and sell Christmas cookies. She also liked embroidery, making klub, flowers, music, playing in the kitchen band, and dancing. She loved when her friends and family would stop by, and always had the coffee pot on and homemade goodies to share. Hilda was called from this life on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Benson. She attained the age of 90 years, 4 months and 14 days. She is survived by her daughters Betty (Ed) Rasmussen of Bagley, Debbie (Keith) Flaten of Swift Falls; four grandchildren Jeff (Veronica) Kvam, Chris (Amy) Kvam, Andy Flaten and his friend Amy, and Josh (Kendall) Flaten, three great-grandchildren, Julia, Vanessa, and Lauryn, three sisters-in-law, Katherine (Abner) Jacobson of Glenwood, Olga Skare of Benson, and Berdina Svor of Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband David in 1996, her parents John and Anna, great-granddaughter Karlee Ann Kvam, seven brothers and six sisters.
