Eugene Gerald Hippen was born on November 05, 1931, in New Ulm, Minnesota, the son of Okko and Luella Hippen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He attended School in Murdock graduating from Murdock high School and also attended Morris Agriculture School. Eugene served his country in the Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1954. On July 7, 1956, Eugene was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Archer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. This union was blessed with 9 children and 55 years of marriage. They lived in the DeGraff and Murdock area. He also worked for the Swift County Highway Department and farmed. He was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns. Eugene loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. He was called from this life on September 23, 2012 at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. He attained the age of 80 years, 10 months and 19 days. Eugene is survived by his children: Dennis (Jodi) Hippen of Shakopee, MN, Dean (Karen) Hippen of Prior Lake, MN, Tim (Monica) Hippen of Benson, MN, Jim (Kim) Hippen of Murdock, MN, John Hippen of Willmar, MN, Luann Hippen of Willmar, MN, Mary Hippen of West St. Paul, MN, Nancy (Linden) Maanum of Benson, MN and Edward (Karyn) Hippen of Thompson, ND; 13 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Jessica, Amanda, Stephanie, Matt, Lisa, Jacob, Taylor, Joshua, Adam, Matt, Ben, and Noah; and 2 Great-grandchildren: Devon and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and his parents, Okko and Luella.
