Jennie Marie Hulberg Pederson was born August 25, 1913 in Langhei township, Pope County, Minnesota, the daughter of Christian M. and Julie (Ostad) Hulberg. Jennie was baptized at the Lake Hazel Lutheran Church in rural Benson and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson by Rev. J.S. Strand. She grew up on her parents' farm in Pope County. She completed Elementary school in District 62, Pope County and graduated from Benson High School in 1930. She graduated from the Benson Teaching Department in 1931. On February 20, 1935, Jennie was united in marriage to Oliver Pederson at the Lake Hazel Church Parsonage by Rev. H. E. Jorgenson. To this union were born two daughters and one son. In 1985 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with an open house at the East Zion Church parlors. They were blessed with more than 57 years of marriage. Jennie taught country school for several years in Pope and Swift Counties and farmed with her husband, Oliver, in Langhei and Blue Mound township. After moving to Benson in 1955, she was employed at the Swift County Benson Hospital in the housekeeping department for 20 years. She was a member of the East Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Aid & Circles. In 1995, Jennie became a resident at Park View Manor in Benson. Among the things Jennie enjoyed were traveling, crocheting, embroidering, knitting, and flowers. She especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Jennie was called from this life on September 6, 2012 at Swift County Benson Hospital. She attained the age of 99 years, and 11 days. Jeannie is survived by her children: Wanda (Milo) Warnke of Minneapolis, Beatrice (LuVerne) Simonson of Benson, and John (Arlene) Pederson of Chippewa Falls, WI; eight grandchildren: Randy Simonson, Julie Rysdahl, Richard Simonson, Penny Thalacker, Linda Pederson, Oliver John Pederson, Renee Erko, and David Warnke; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson; one brother, Arthur Hulberg of Benson; and many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. Proceeding her in death were her husband, Oliver in 1992; her parents, C. M. and Julie Hulberg; two brothers, Melvin and Clifford; sister, Alice (Burdette) Naig of Benson; and two infant sisters.
