Robert Vernon Brustuen

February 21, 1933 — August 20, 2012

Robert "Bob" Vernon Brustuen was born February 21, 1933 in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of John O. and Elma (Hagen) Brustuen. Bob was baptized on March 12, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton and confirmed on July 18, 1948 at Long Lake Lutheran Church. He grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School in 1951. On April 15, 1967, Robert was united in marriage to Kathrine Marie Zinda. The couple was blessed with 1 child and more than 45 years of marriage. Bob worked at Superior Plating in Minneapolis. Upon Bob and Kathy moving back to Appleton, he drove truck until he started with the City of Appleton in 1972. Bob worked for city for 26 years until his retirement in 1998. Through the years, Bob enjoyed gardening; keeping up the yard and lawn; projects, including decorative birdhouses; and NASCAR. He was always helping out his friends and neighbors by checking on their house and mowing the lawn when they were out of town. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was called from this life on Monday, August 20, 2012. He attained the age of 79 years, 5 months and 27 days. Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Appleton; daughter Sue Ann Brustuen, of Morris; granddaughter Samantha Johnson, of Appleton; sister Jean (David) Jorgenson of Ortonville; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Elma Brustuen.
