Laurene D. Demarce

Laurene Delores DeMarce was born February 16, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Lawrence H. and Delores Ella (Nixon) Johnson. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. She grew up in North St. Paul and Brooklyn Center and graduated from Osseo High School. On January 31, 1976, Laurie was united in marriage to Larry DeMarce at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center by Fr. Nugent. After their marriage, they moved to Benson. Laurie worked at 1st Federal Savings Bank, 1st Security Bank, the Public Library and was a co-owner of the DeMarce Theatre in Benson. She was a member of St. Francis Family Groups, the Benson Library Board, and a past president of the Swift County Diabetes Chapter and TOPS. Among the things she enjoyed were reading and dogs. She collected snowmen, Westie/Schnauzer items and Rosaries. Laurie was called from this life on Tuesday morning, March 2, 2010 at St. Cloud Hospital. She attained the age of 63 years, 16 days. Laurie is survived by her husband Larry of Benson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joan DeMarce of St. Paul, Mary Lou (John) Morrow of Grand Rapids, MI, Paul (Margie) DeMarce of Benson and Vonnie Connolly of Benson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence and Delores; and an infant sister.
