Helen T. Klang

Helen T. Klang was born December 7, 1928 in Edison Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Bach) Zinda. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Holloway. She received First Holy Communion and confirmed at Church of the Visitation in Danvers. Helen attended country school in rural Danvers, graduating from Benson High School in 1946. She attended Montevideo Normal College, received her teaching certificate and taught country school in rural Danvers. On February 4, 1950, Helen was united in marriage to Lawrence Klang at Church of the Visitation in Danvers by Father Esser. This union was blessed with fourteen children. Helen valued her time taking care of the home and raising her children. She loved visiting with her family and friends. She also worked at Fingerhut in Benson. In January of 2005, she retired from Meadowlane Golden Living Center in Benson after 20 years of employment. She was an avid baker, and thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her children, family and friends. She was always content to be in the kitchen. Helen enjoyed canning, dancing, and making baptismal garments for the church. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, serving as a Eucharist Minister and Reader for a number of years. She was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1403. Helen was called from this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Southview Manor in Benson. She attained the age of 81 years, 28 days. Helen is survived by her children: Michael Klang of Cibolo, TX, Marvin Klang of New Hope, Cecelia Klang of Benson, Patricia Schnitzler of Monticello, Brenda (Neal) Thompson of Benson, Randall Klang of Benson, Gwendolyn (Daryl) Ascheman of Benson, Ramona (Sherman) Lehn of Dayton, Bridget (Randall) Miller of Big Lake, Angela (Paul) O'Connor of Burnsville, Nancy (Phil) Goff of Benson, Stephen (Colleen) Klang of Benson, Daniel (Shari) Klang of Alexandria and Thomas Klang (Marney) of Benson; 23 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; a sister, Charlene Frederick-Schrupp of Bloomington; a sister in law Catherine Zinda of Kerkhoven; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Julia; a sister Mary Magdalene; a brother Richard Zinda; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
