Clarence E. Hargreaves

Clarence Edmund Hargreaves was born May 3, 1914 in Clontarf, Minnesota, the son of Leland R. and Rose P. (Fennell) Hargreaves. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clontarf. Clarence grew up in Clontarf and attended school through the eighth grade. Clarence farmed and worked in the CCC Camps in Hovland, Minnesota. On January 19, 1943, Clarence was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Macklin at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clontarf. They were blessed with three children and were able to share in 66 years of marriage. In 1952 they moved to Minneapolis where he worked for General Mills and the City of Minneapolis. While working for the City, he earned his Chief Steam Engineer license. They lived in Minneapolis for 30 years, then after retirement in 1982 they moved back to Clontarf. Among the things he enjoyed were painting, mechanical repair, shuffle board, story telling, wintering in Texas, going to the lake, and visiting with the grandchildren. Clarence was called from this life on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Stevens County Hospital in Morris. He attained the age of 95 years, 7 months and 15 days. Clarence is survived by his wife Dorothy of Clontarf; his children: Marion (Dennis ) Stoltman of Lake Worth, FL, Gary (Mary) Hargreaves of Fridley, and Jim (Monique) Hargreaves of Elk River; seven grandchildren: Julie Kobis, Toni Gores, Rebecca Potts, Sarah Peterson, Cecelia Phillips, Heidi Hargreaves, and Corey Hargreaves; eight great grandchildren: Steven and Justin Kobis, Hayden, and Lucy Gores, Elle and Eli Potts, Noah and Maria Peterson; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents Leland and Rose; brothers: Leo, Leonard, Willard, Harold and Elvin Hargreaves; and sisters Marie, Florence, Dorothy and Maxine.
