Evelyn Aleo Reuss was born April 26, 1906, in Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Lena (Lecke) Zick. Her family moved to the Benson area in 1912. She attended school through the eighth grade in Holloway. She then worked on the family farm. On November 19, 1925, Evelyn was united in marriage to Edwin Reuss in Holloway. This union was blessed with seven children. The family farmed together north of Appleton, then moved to a farm in Tara Township near Danvers. Evelyn actively worked on the farm in addition to her housework. After the children were grown, Evelyn worked as a cook at the Viking Café. They retired and moved into Benson. Edwin passed away in 1981. Evelyn moved into Park View Estates and lived there until her 100th birthday, and most recently lived in Murdock at Homestead Place. Among the things she enjoyed were farming with her husband, knitting, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, crafts, playing cards and watching the Twins. Evelyn was called from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Homestead Place in Murdock. She attained the age of 102 years, 10 months and 11 days. Evelyn is survived by her children: Warren (Shirley) Reuss of Benson; Delores Allen of Elma, WA, Marlys Nelson of Brooklyn Park, Phyllis (John) Shannon of Elma, WA, and Sandra French of South Lake Tahoe, CA; fourteen grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Edwin; two sons: LeRoy and Dennis Reuss; three grandson: Richard Nelson, Dennis Pemberton, and Steven Reuss; one granddaughter, Terri Wesolowsky; her parents, William and Lena; three brothers: Erwin, Alvin and Arnold Zick; and one sister, Edna Hegg.
