Chester Charles Carl, Jr., was born September 4, 1947, in Appleton to Chester and Irene (Hill) Carl. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Correll and confirmed at the First Congregational Church in Appleton. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1965.Chuck was a stand-out athlete at Odessa High School, playing both basketball and baseball. He also played independent basketball for the Appleton Idies and amateur baseball for the Ortonville Rox, having the privilege of playing on the 1969 state tournament team.He was married to Cheryl Trebil on June 13, 1970, at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. They made their home on the farm place north of Correll where Chuck grew up. Chuck became a member of First English Church in December of 1973.Chuck was a lifelong farmer. He loved to watch the crops grow from planting right through harvest. He and his dad raised livestock together and sold Pioneer seed corn together for many years. He loved working with the animals and he and his dad raised registered quarter horses.Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were hunting and fishing with his son and father. Trapping was another pastime he and his son enjoyed together. Family and friends were so important to him and he so enjoyed all the get-togethers. His daughter was the light of his life and he was so proud of both of his children.Chuck died on Sunday, March 1st, at the Ortonville Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer with a will that would not quit. He had attained 61 years, 5 months, and 27 days of age.He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Correll; two children: Chester Carl, III, and Michelle Carl both of Ortonville; mother, Irene Carl, of Correll; two sisters: Patricia (Chuck) Korstjens of Big Stone City, SD, and Joan (George) Korstjens of Correll; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and a host of friends.He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Carl, Sr., and grandparents: Charles William Carl, Mary Jane (Snyder) Carl, Bernard Hill, and Hazel Tellier
