Marlys Lydia Schlieman was born in Holloway on October 1, 1924, to Julius and Anna (Hoerneman) Reich. She was baptized on October 1, 1924, and confirmed on April 10, 1938, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway. She graduated from Holloway High School in 1942.On June 20, 1948, she was married to Donald Schlieman at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked for a number of years at Mickey's Café and Bruno's Café in Appleton. She then was church secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church for over 30 years. At Trinity she was active with the women's group, Guild, Bible study, and sang with the senior choir.Marlys enjoyed flower gardening and handcrafts such as embroidery and counted cross-stitch. She enjoyed reading, collecting Christmas trees, baking, and in her younger years dancing. She like to spend time with the grandchildren and attending their many sporting events.Marlys died on Sunday morning, February 22nd, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 84 years, 4 months, and 21 days of age.She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Appleton; three children: Kathi (Todd) Fink of Louisburg, Mark (Linda) Schlieman of Madison, and Susan Arnold of Alexandria; seven grandchildren: Chad (Lynn) Fink, Stacey (Wyatt) Bonnema, Kristin Fink (friend Dan Gates), Jacob Arnold (friend Crystal Shea), Christopher Arnold (friend Michelle Kaiser), Ryan Schlieman, and Katie Schlieman; two great-grandchildren: Brayden and Mara Arnold; three sisters: Marie Zinda of Appleton, Ardis Reich of Hopkins, and Thelma Reynolds of Holloway; three brothers: Arnold Reich of Hopkins, Warren (Lois) Reich of Duluth, and Allen Reich of Hopkins; brother-in-law, Dale (JoAnn) Schlieman, of Yakima, WA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Myra Reich; and her sister, Delpha Brahem.
