Lori Kay Smith was born January 22, 1957, at Cloquet MN, to Howard James and Dorothy Marcella (Rudnick) Smith. She was baptized March 10, 1957 at Esko, MN, and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She attended elementary school in Dawson and Madison and graduated from Hutchinson High School. She then went on to the Minnesota School of Business for her certificate. Lori worked for several years at Hutchinson Technology, Inc., for several years.Lori loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved bowling and was an officer of her bowling league for many years. As hobbies she liked Karaoke, reading, spending time in her garden, and hunting. She was very proud when she bagged her first bear. She had the "biggest heart" of any person and was always willing to help others. She will be greatly missed by all the people that loved her.At Lori's request, and with her family's blessing, she was able to be an organ donor and, at present, has been able to help restore health to three other people. Lori died on Thursday, December 23, at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. She had attained 53 years, 11 months, and 1 day of age.She is survived by four children: Angela (Dustin) Krohn of Appleton, Jacob Karg of Winthrop, Theresa Gallagher of Collierville, TN, and Stephanie (Josh) Connor of Republic, WA; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Grace, and Trenton Krohn, Clayton Karg, Aj Gallagher, and Taylor and Caleb Connor; her mother, Dorothy Smith, of Appleton; three siblings: Cheryl (Don) Heimerl of Madison, Duane (Kathy) Smith of Cambridge, and Cindy (Tim) Olson of Belle Plaine; her special friend, Randy Pagenkopf, of Winthrop; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her father, James Smith.
