Lawrence Joseph DeMarce, was born on April 07, 1936 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of John and Vianna Lynch DeMarce. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. He attended school in Benson, graduating from Benson High School. He then attended college at St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota. Larry served his country in the National Guard from 1954 to 1962. Larry was united in marriage to Laurene "Laurie" Johnson, on January 31, 1976, by Father James Nugent, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Together they were able to share in 34 years of marriage. They made their home in Benson. Larry worked for the Swift County Monitor newspaper during the summers through his college years. He owned Larry's Lanes in Benson and in 1970 he owned and operated the DeMarce Theatre for many years. Larry belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered his time to the American Cancer Society with Daffodil Days and volunteered as a driver for the developmentally disabled. Larry loved to visit family and friends, and he greeted everyone with a smile. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, collecting sports cards, and was an avid Minnesota Gophers fan. Larry loved his dogs. Larry was called from this life on August 28, 2012, from the Golden Living Center in Benson. He attained the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 21 days. Larry is survived by his brother, Paul (Margie) DeMarce of Benson; his sisters, Joan DeMarce of St. Paul, and Mary Lou (John) Morrow of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law, Vonnie Connolly of Lakeville; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends and other relatives. Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Vianna; his wife, Laurie in 2010; sister, Ann Connolly; and brother-in-law, Tom Connolly.
