Adelaide Doretta Olson

April 25, 1922 — September 14, 2010

Ade Olson was born April 25, 1922, in Chippewa County to Daniel and Amanda Torgeson and was the ninth born of eleven children. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. She attended the Stoen country school and graduated from Appleton High School. Ade married Harold Olson on November 28, 1942. They lived on their farm in Big Bend City for 46 years and retired to their home in Milan in 1988, where Harold passed away in April of 1990. Ade moved to Apple Ridge Apartments of Appleton in August of 2007, where she resided until breaking her leg, which necessitated her moving to the nursing home April 2008. Ade was a wonderful homemaker and mother of four daughters; Pat Josephs (Mike) of Excelsior, MN., Connie Huseby (Virgene) of Port St. Lucie, Fl & Alexandria, MN., Barb Meyer (Richard) of St. Cloud, MN., and Sue Gee of Rosemount, MN. She very much enjoyed her 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was active in the Big Bend Church teaching Sunday school and was a member of the choir, Circle, Homemakers, and Ladies Aide. Other special activities Ade loved were the Peppy Pals homemakers' club, bowling, playing cards, crocheting, quilting, gardening, baking, cooking, being a 4-H Leader, snowmobiling, traveling, and singing. Her beautiful alto voice was a pleasure to hear when performing with her sisters, Ruth and Alma, at many events. A highlight of her life was performing as one of the "Cactus Sisters" with the Big Bend Barn Dance Band in the 1950's along with her husband, sister, Alma, brother, Arnie, and friends. She was the last surviving member of the original Barn Dance gang. Ruthie Thorsland was her true and constant friend. Ade was so thankful for her daily visits and endless love. God Bless you Ruthie. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister, Alma Hansen, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1990;granddaughter Yvette Huseby, 1998; twin Kleven grandsons, sons-in-law Ken Kleven, 1994,and Jim Gee 2010; four sisters: Ales Engleson, 1998; Dagney Johnson, 2000; Ruth Torgerson, 1988; Gladys Torgeson, 1990; and five brothers: Rudy Torgerson, 1997; Alfred Torgerson, 1990; Arnold Torgerson, 1997; Walter Torgerson, 1984; and Leo Torgerson, 2002.
