Vivian "Jean" Jean Grussing was born July 13, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Emory B. and Jeanette I. (Engebritson) Lorenz. She was called from this life on Thursday afternoon, May 31st, at Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson. She had attained the age of 67 years, 10 months and 18 days. Jean grew up in Benson, Minnesota, where she was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed on June 7, 1959 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. She graduated from Benson High School in 1962. She then attended Willmar Technical College where she received her LPN certificate. On February 20th, 1965, Jean was united in marriage to Kenneth Grussing at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. To this union two children were born. Together Jean and Ken were able to share in more than forty-four years of marriage. She and Ken lived in numerous places while Ken was in the service, in St. Paul and North Branch, and then returning to Swift Falls and Benson. Jean was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She worked for Swift County Benson Hospital for over two decades. She was a member of the Ladies' VFW Auxiliary and was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Among the things Jean enjoyed were antiquing, painting, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Jean is survived by her children: Lynn (Ron) Lundebrek of Benson and Alan (Liane) Grussing of Benson, four grandchildren: Cole, Sam, Shane, and Abby; her brother, Gary (Mary) Lorenz of Apple Valley, MN; and many other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Jeanette; and her husband, Kenneth A. Grussing on June 13, 2009.
