Myrtle Klassen

Myrtle Miranda Klassen was born September 18, 1913, in Pope County, Minnesota to Oliver and Sylvia (Chevalier) Goulet. She was called from this life on Monday afternoon, May 21st, at her home in Arbor Lakes Senior Living in Maple Grove, Minnesota. She had attained the age of 98 years, 8 months and 3 days. She grew up by Clontarf, Minnesota, where she attended and graduated from District 68 School and Benson High School. She was baptized on October 5th, 1913 and confirmed at St. Malachy Church in Clontarf. On April 8th, 1940, Myrtle was united in marriage to Francis "Frank" Klassen by Father King at St. Malachy Church in Clontarf. To this union two children were born. Together Myrtle and Frank were able to share in more than fifty-one years of marriage. She and her husband, Frank, farmed in Cashel Township and she also worked at Fingerhut. Myrtle was a member of the Birthday Club, Ministers of Praise, Befrienders, Homemakers, Family Group, and Senior Citizens Club. Among the things she enjoyed were crocheting, needle work, ceramics, reading, square dancing, cards and traveling. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Gerald) Dokken of Maple Grove, MN; daughter-in-law, Cherry Klassen; six grandchildren: Erica (Dan) Henry, Brena (Scott) Selander, Neal (Theresa) Klassen, DeAnn (Brion) Appling, Molly Klassen (Kent Gades), and Jenna Dokken; eleven great-grandchildren: Derrick Henry, Waylon Henry, Lindsey Henry, Landon Henry, Carson Selander, Cameron Selander, Devon Liles, Anthony "AJ" Klassen, Miranda Klassen, Ava Klassen, and Pieper Gades. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Klassen; her son, Jim Klassen; her parents, Oliver and Sylvia Goulet; siblings: Lillian Schnitzler, Herman Goulet, Leona Fath, Adeline Klassen, Adlore Goulet, Eleanor VanderWeyst, and Theresa VanderWeyst; and three siblings in infancy.
