Herbert Henry F. Schloendorf was born August 15, 1918 in Hamburg, Carver County, Minnesota, the son of Dietrich and Bertha (Panning) Schloendorf. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. He grew up in Hamburg and attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School through the eighth grade. On August 18, 1946, Herbert was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Schauer at Zion Lutheran Church at Green Isle, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children and more than 65 years of marriage. Herbert farmed his entire life. He and Dorothy farmed at Green Isle for ten years, Stewart for ten years, and Benson for 27 years. Herbert served on the Church Council at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at Stewart, was a long-time member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson and served on the Trust Fund Board. Among the things he enjoyed were farming, reading, playing cards and dancing. Herbert was called from this life on May 10, 2012 at his home in Benson. He attained the age of 93 years, 5 months and 25 days. Herbert is survived by his wife Dorothy; his children: Mary Eberley of Elk River, Doris (Gary) Loen of Benson, Jim (Pam) Schloendorf of Pipestone, and Jane (Keith) Clemons of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren: Mark (Katie) Eberley, Caroline (Jason) Johnson, Elizabeth (special friend Steve) Loen, Eric (special friend Laura) Loen, Jennifer Schloendorf, Nathan Schloendorf, Mikaela Clemons, and Robert Schloendorf; six great grandchildren: Kurt Plekkenpol, Griffin Eberley, Holden Plekkenpol, Sariana Eberley, twins Vanessa and Amelia Johnson; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters: Gertrude (Paul) Oelfke and Emma (George) Michaelis; and son-in-law Lee Eberley.
