Douglas Wayne Peterson was born August 18, 1965, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Wayne D. and Shirley (Olson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson. He was raised in Benson, graduating from Benson High School with the Class of 1984. He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering from North Dakota State University. Doug loved to play city league hockey and played football for Benson High School. Doug worked in Blaine and Brooklyn Park, MN as a CNC machinist and ran his own machine shop, Peterson Machine. He also worked at Lorenz Manufacturing and Carlson Machine in Benson. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and working on anything mechanical. He loved aviation, taking annual trips to the EAA Airshow in Oshkosh, WI. Doug was called from this life on Monday, April 30th, 2012 at his home in Benson. He attained the age of 46 years, 8 months and 12 days.Doug is survived by his sisters: Sharon Peterson-Misgen of St. Paul, Susan (Russell) Zaviska of Thief River Falls, and Janet (Dwayne) Pike of Pine Island; eight nieces and nephews: Sarah Zaviska, Joey Zaviska, Tommy Zaviska, Peter Zaviska, Sammy Zaviska, Sydney Pike, Nathan Pike and Benjamin Pike.Preceding him in death were his parents.
