Dorothy Grace Neuhaus

August 25, 1925 — March 9, 2012

Dorothy "Dottie" Neuhaus was born August 25, 1925, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Katherine (Hogan) Blake. She was baptized August 27, 1927 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo, where she was later confirmed. She graduated from Montevideo High School. On December 18, 1944, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gene Neuhaus in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church parsonage by Pastor John Monson. Together they were able to share in more than 56 years of marriage. This union was blessed with four children. After marriage they farmed in the Clarkfield area, and later moved to Lemon Grove, California, in 1963, where they lived for 25 years. They moved to Benson, Minnesota, in 1990. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing, and was active in the St. Mark's Ladies Guild. She was called from this life on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, Minnesota. She attained the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 10 days. She is survived by her children, Susan Mertha of Rapid City, South Dakota; Timothy Neuhaus of Lakeside, California; Vicki (Don) Rawls of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; and Valerie Neuhaus of Benson; a brother, George (LaVone) Blake of San Diego, California; six grandchildren Kristin (Tim) Molden, Desiree Kotzer, Kevira (Corey) Voegele, Melissa Conrad, Cheyenne (and Robert) Snowden and Wendy Carter and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also soon to become a great-great-grandmother. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Lenora Heideman, Verna Ranten and Lorna Neuhaus. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine; her husband, Gene; three sisters, Mae, Evelyn, and Delores, and a fourth sister in infancy; and grandson Adam-Blake Neuhaus.
