Grace Geneva Engebretson was born November 3, 1940, in Hegbert Township, Swift County, to Henry M. and Jennieva P. (Paulson) Hanson. She was baptized November 10, 1940, at her parents' home and was confirmed May 22, 1955, at Drywood Lutheran Church. Grace attended rural school at District #30 and graduated from Appleton High School in 1958.October 29, 1960, she was married to Oscar M. Engebretson at Alberta. Grace worked as a housewife and mother her entire life. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, bird watching, and dancing and listening to old-time music. She particularly loved to make special-k bars. She was a devoted wife, mother, and loved being a grandma.Grace died on Wednesday morning, November 9, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had attained 71 years, and 6 days of age.She is survived by her husband, Oscar, of Milan; two daughters: Deb (Russell) Olson of Danvers, and Darcy (Wayne) Nielsen of Glenwood; six grandchildren: Brady (Rachel) Olson, Jenna Olson, Bergen Olson, Michael Nielsen, Tyler Nielsen, and Luke Nielsen; eight siblings: Carol Hamann of Appleton, Gladys Zinda of Arizona, Avis Hanson of Arizona, Larry (LouAnn) Hanson of Hugo, James (Phyllis) Hanson of Milan, LeRoy Hanson of Belle Plain, Rolly (Lois) Hanson of Albany, and Tim (Denise) Bakken of Appleton; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wayne, in infancy; and her sister, Eunice VanWinkle, in 1980.
