Alice Joyce Klucas

Alice Joyce Klucas was born June 15, 1921 in Holloway, Minnesota, the daughter of William Richard and Lauretta (Heldt) Giese. She was baptized on August 7, 1921 and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran in Holloway. While in high school, Alice was a member of the cheerleading and tumbling teams. She graduated from Holloway High School with the Class of 1939; then went on to attend Union Hospital School for Practical Nurses in New Ulm, graduating there in 1943, and taking a job at the Montevideo Hospital. On December 31, 1944, Alice was united in marriage to John DeWayne Klucas at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage and four children. The family lived near Clontarf, and Alice spent her time taking care of the home and raising the children. In 2002, they moved into Benson. Alice was a member of the Glacial Trails Travel Club and the Happy Hoofers Saddle Club. Among the things she enjoyed were gardening, sweepstakes, bird-watching, traveling, fishing, watching the Minnesota Twins, and especially enjoyed spending time with family. Alice was called from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Meadow Lane Health Care Center in Benson. She attained the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 28 days. Alice is survived by her children: William (Charlene) Klucas and Jonathan (Carolyn) Klucas, both of Clontarf; six grandchildren: Nathan (Amanda) Klucas, Emmett (Tami) Klucas, Dawn (Aaron) Johnson, Amanda (Chad) Ness, Margaret Thomas, Beth (Justin Stelzer) Deitchman; nine great grandchildren: Cian Klucas, Samuel Klucas, Faith Klucas, Silas Klucas, Codi Payne, Roderick Johnson, Jacob Ness, Gracie Ness, and Arnold Stelzer; sisters-in-law: Jean Rittenour of Glenwood and Lucille Giese of New Ulm; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband Wayne in 2009; sons: David and Douglas; parents; a brother, Donald Giese and a sister, Lillian Hansch.
