Hilma Ekse

March 7, 1921 — September 19, 2011

Hilma Ekse was born March 7, 1921 in Hendricks, Minnesota, the daughter of Sivert and Anna (Digre) Hindoien. She grew up in Hendricks, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended school there and until her marriage, she worked at the Hendricks Clinic. On February 3, 1945, Hilma was united in marriage to James Gerhard Ekse at the Lutheran Free Church in Hendricks by Pastor Erickson. The couple lived in Minneapolis until 1977, when they moved to Benson. They were blessed with a son, and they shared 43 years of marriage. Hilma was a member of Our Redeemer's Church in Benson. She enjoyed handiwork, reading, and being with family and friends. Hilma was called from this life on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Benson. She attained the age of 90 years, 6 months and 12 days. Hilma is survived by her son, James Ekse of Benson; and a sister-in-law Adeline P. Tritchard of Minneapolis. Preceding her in death were her husband James in 1988; her parents; and two sisters: Inez Hindoien and Luella Morseth.
