Dorothy Mae Pittman was born November 17, 1917, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, the daughter of Leslie and Euphemia Mae (Dalzell) Iler. She attended school through the eighth grade. In 1939, Dorothy was united in marriage to Phaen Pittman in St. Cloud, MN. They were blessed with five children and 43 years of marriage. Dorothy was a housewife and enjoyed sewing, and playing darts. She belonged to a dart league and received a plaque for being 83 years young. Dorothy was proud to be a breast cancer survivor. She was called from this life on Friday, September 16, 2011 at her home. She attained the age of 93 years, 10 months and 6 days. Dorothy is survived by her children: Joan (Roger) Barrett of Clara City, Janet Marquardt of Murdock, Donald (Irma) Pittman of De Graff and Dianne (Jim) Marquardt of De Graff; fifteen grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Emaline Haage of Alexandria; son-in-law, Art Ostendorf; brother-in-law, LeWarne Pittman; sisters-in-law, Marlys Iler and Bonnie Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband Phaen in 1981; her daughter Donna Mae Ostendorf; grandchildren: Jesse Pittman, Cheryl Ostendorf, and Jeff Barrett; brothers: Frank Iler, Leroy Iler, and Edward Iler; and her sister, Lila Schwendeman.
