Lillian Frieda (Opp) Wendland of New London, MN, formerly of Bellingham, MN, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, MN, at the age of 100 years. Service of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bellingham, MN, on Monday, September 26, 2011, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Lillian was born May 6, 1911, on the Opp farm north of Appleton, MN to Ella and Alfred Opp. She attended Long Lake Country School, Appleton High School and completed Normal Teacher Training in St Cloud, MN. She taught school in Correll and Bellingham. Lillian married Clifford Wendland on September 22, 1938 and farmed 2 miles north of Bellingham, until 1971, when they moved into town. They were active members of the United Methodist Church throughout their lives. Lillian is survived by daughter, Gail (Dale) of Cerritos, CA, son, Dennis (Marianne) of Arden Hills, MN, and daughter-in-law, Linda (Merlin) of New London, MN, ten grandchildren, Neil (Wayne), Jodene and Nicole (Gail), Kim, Cheryl, Tonya and Cory (Merlin), John, Tracy and Michael (Dennis), nine great- grandchildren, sister-in-law, Donna (Herbert) and brother, Donald. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Ella & Alfred Opp, her husband, Clifford, sons, Wayne and Merlin, grandchildren, Shawn and Kile (Merlin), sister, Margaret, and brother, Herbert.
