Arlene J. Anderson

Arlene Josephine Anderson was born October 18, 1917, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Mathilda (Christenson) Logan. She was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Benson. Arlene grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School with the Class of 1935. On August 3, 1940, Arlene was married to LeRoy Anderson at the Congregational Church Parsonage by Rev. Tibbets. This marriage was blessed with three children. Arlene worked at the Golf Club and the Cloverleaf for 18 years, then at Clark's Drug Store for 36 years. She retired in 2008 at the age of 90. Arlene was a member of the Women's Fellowship at church, the VFW Auxiliary, the Senior Citizen's Card Club, and the Whist Marathon. Among the things she enjoyed were dancing, playing cards, watching the Twins and Vikings, and especially spending time at Lake Scandi with her family. Arlene was called from this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Meadow Lane Health Care Center. She attained the age of 93 years, 9 months and 28 days, after a courageous battle with cancer. Arlene is survived by her children: Judy (Bob) Rittenour of Glenwood, David Anderson of Bemidji and Larry Anderson of Sante Fe, NM; three grandchildren: Rhonda (Alan) Lundebrek, Roberta (Tona) Rittenour, and Robin (Jason) Connelly; four great grandchildren: Nicole Ajax, Kayci Wendland, Jacob Connelly, and Josie Connelly; one great-great grandchild: Kason Staton; siblings: Rosabelle (Kenneth) Hensch of Willmar, Rosemary Erickson of Lake Crystal, and Roger Logan of Anoka; her sister-in-law: Sandra Logan of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Charles and Melvin Logan; brother-in-law, Curtis Erickson; sister-in-law, Lydia Logan; and five brothers and sisters in infancy.
