Bertha J. Tjosaas, was born on February 12, 1912, in St. Paul, the daughter of Anna and John Lee. Her parents emigrated from Norway to Minnesota. After John built a home, they moved the family out of St. Paul taking the train to the end of the railroad in about 1915. They moved to Swift County, Cashel Township. Bertha was united in marriage to Alf Tjosaas on May 10, 1934. This union was blessed with two children. Together they shared in 36 years of marriage. They lived on a farm in Cashel Township until 1939, when they moved to Milan. Bertha enjoyed her needlework; quilting, knitting, and crocheting, and working with the mission in the church. Bertha moved to Benson in the early 1980's. She was called from this life on Tuesday, August 09, 2011, at the Golden living center in Benson. She attained the age of 99 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Blessed be her memory. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann (Edgar) Nord/Johnson of Wheaton; two grandchildren, Heather Nord, of Benson, and Vern Nord of Colorado; a sister Jenny Claussen of Benson, a brother Albert (Darlene) Lee of Coos Bay, Or, a sister in law Angie Lee, of Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband Alf, in 1971, a son Phillip, her parents Anna and John, a grandson, Aaron Nord , sibilings, Melvin (Edith) Lee, Ellen (Bernhard) Bosch, Agnes (Earl) Barrett, Joseph (Marion) Lee, and John Lee.
