Dorothy M. Kent

Dorothy Margery Kent was born October 15, 1923 to Carl and Hazel (Waller) Pederson of Donnelly, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Kongsvinger Lutheran faith. She grew up in rural Donnelly and attended grade school and graduated from Alberta High School in 1943. She studied nursing after graduation and was employed at Morris Stevens County Hospital. Later she was employed at Daytons and the Minneapolis Moline Plant for four years. Dorothy was united in marriage on November 6, 1947 to Charles Kent of Danvers, Minnesota at St. Malachy Church in Clontarf. Father King officiated and later converted her to Catholicism. As newlyweds, they resided on the same farm their entire married life for 36 ½ years until Charles' death. She was active in Altar and Rosary Church activities and various volunteer activities. Among the things she enjoyed mostly were her family, children and grandchildren, gardening and flowers, music, dancing, baking bread and pastries and driving her car. Dorothy was called from this life on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at her home. She attained the age of 87 years and 7 months. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Charles and brothers Harvey, Audrey, Roy and Clinton Pederson. Dorothy is survived by her children, Keith (Marlene) Kent of Clontarf, Bruce (Dawn) Kent of Woodbury, Scott (Marilyn) Kent of Clontarf, Kathy (Lloyd) Hemmah of Hutchinson, Debbie (Kevin) Evenson of Hutchinson, Barb (Robert) Brandt of Clontarf, Kevin (Mary) Kent of Benson, and Karen (Darin) Jensen of Marshall; fifteen grandchildren: Charlie (Ani) Kent, Amanda (Nate) Klucas, Riley Kent, Courtney Kent, Jenny (Troy) Arndt, Jesse (Lisa) Kent, Alex Hemmah, Justin (Jodi) Evenson, Ben (Jaimie) Evenson, Ryan (Belinda) Brandt, Alicia Brandt, Mitchell Kent, Brennan Kent, Bryce Jensen, and Brittany Jensen; thirteen great grandchildren: Jax, Cian, Allison, Adam, Tyler, Dylan, Jasmine, Branden, Michael, Austin, Kourtny, Taylor, and JosieMae; a sister-in-law, Virene Olson of Morris; and other relatives and friends. Her Legacy: Dorothy was a special, elegant person, very loving and kind, her patience and humor, her goodness and concern for her family and others. She will be missed and cherished in our hearts forever.
