George Owen Landmark was born January 8, 1946, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Milo Ernest and Doris Olene (Vollen) Landmark. He grew up in Benson and attended school there. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. George worked at Jerry's Auto Salvage in Big Lake, Minnesota, White Corporation in Hopkins, and NAPA in Monticello. He was a member of the VFW. Among the things he enjoyed were cars, fishing, John Wayne and other western movies, and truck and tractor antique shows. He was good at small engine repair, and was well known as a "Ford Man". He especially enjoyed cooking, raiding his sister Donna's recipe books and cards for a new recipe to try. George loved visiting with his friends and family. He was called from this life on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Swift County Benson Hospital. He attained the age of 64 years, 5 months and 17 days. George is survived by his mother, Doris Landmark of Benson; his children: Randy (April) Landmark of Zimmerman, Robert Landmark of Foley, Rick Landmark of Foley, and Rachel Landmark of Menomonie, WI; grandchildren: Amy, Andrew, Jenny, Chelsie, and Brandon; brothers: Don (Judy) Landmark of Golden Valley, Allen (Lonnie) Landmark of Benson, Gary (Julie) Landmark of Benson, and Bruce (Julie) Landmark of Benson; sisters: Donna (Raymond) Solt of Benson and Marie (Robert) Young of Benson; step-brothers: Richard (Karen) Rassmussen of Sauk Rapids and David (Patricia) Rassmussen of Glenwood; a step-sister: Marlene (Vergil) Shermer of Windom; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death was his father Milo Landmark in 1970.
