Cora Olive Lund was born April 11, 1923, in Hegbert Township, Swift County, to Ole and Clara (Moen) Tofte. She was baptized April 26, 1923, at Drywood Lutheran Church by Rev. A. A. Reese and confirmed on October 24, 1937, at Louisburg Lutheran Church by Rev. E. S. Belgum. Cora attended rural District #41, in Lac qui Parle County and graduated from Appleton High School May 29, 1941. September 28, 1941, she was married to Joseph G. Lund at Louisburg Lutheran Church by Rev. E. S. Belgum. After their marriage she became a member of Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a Ladies Aide officer and a choir member. Joseph and Cora farmed in Hantho Township until moving to Appleton in 1967. Cora then worked at Appleton Pharmacy for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Sometime after moving to Appleton they joined Zion Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar committee, the library committee, and was a member of the Joy Circle. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Board, and held the office of treasurer for five years. Cora died on Tuesday morning, May 10th, at the St. Cloud Hospital. She had attained 88 years and 29 days of age. She is survived by three children: Janice Holman of Quartzsite, AZ, Dennis (La Vonne) Lund of Becker, MN, and David (Antje) Lund of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren: Lisle Emmerson, Tara Coffman, Glen Holman, Tim (Sonia) Boche, Jackie (Adam) McKelvey, and Erin (David) Holman; 16 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two step-grandchildren, Shawn (Julie) Wickham and Heidi Wickham; six step-great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (Palmer) Blank of Montevideo; sister-in-law, Val Tofte of Madison; brother-in-law, Gerald Rau of Glenwood; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph, on June 21, 1990; grandson, Daniel Lund and his wife Renae Meyer Lund; two sisters: Eleanor Lund and Lorraine Rau; and her brother, Orrin Tofte.
