William Francis Yost

October 16, 1923 — March 21, 2010

William Francis Yost was born October 16, 1923 in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of John and Catherine (Thome) Yost. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. Bill graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1941. On July 18, 1946, Bill was united in marriage to Mary Barbara Dowswell at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children and 63 years of marriage. Bill was a lifelong farmer in Dublin Township and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Murdock School Board, the Murdock Farmer's Elevator Board, the Swift County Farm Bureau Board, and the County FHA Board. He served on the Sacred Heart Finance Committee, and was a recipient of the Bishop's Medal of Honor. Bill was called from this life on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. He attained the age of 86 years, 5 months and 5 days. Bill is survived by his wife Mary "Barb" Yost of Willmar; his children: Catherine (Richard) Tate of Bloomington, Michael (Sandra) Yost of Murdock, and Susan Yost of Eden Prairie; three grandsons: Matthew (Anupama) Tate, Michael Yost and David (Kimberlee) Yost; three great grandsons: Akshay, Ashok and Amit Tate; his brother Robert (Barbara) Yost of Murdock; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Catherine; and a grandson, John Tate.
