Alan Birch, 65, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away December 29, 2025, at the St. Cloud Hospital from complications due to bladder cancer.
Alan was born January 5, 1960, in Benson, Minnesota, to Jerome (Jim) and Adeline (Ruess) Birch. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Danvers, Minnesota. Alan attended school at Danvers Elementary School and Benson High School with the Class of 1978.
Alan lived in the Danvers / Benson area his whole life working for area farmers and drove truck for several different businesses, most recently T & K Excavating in Benson.
Alan never met a stranger and knew everyone in the area. He enjoyed visiting with “the locals,” sharing a story, and had a great sense of humor that he shared with all who knew him. He was a Vikings fan always, even when “they could be beat by any local high school team!”
Alan is survived by his siblings: Paulette Neuhaus of Lafayette, CO, Jerry (Stephanie) Birch of Anchorage, AK, Pam Birch (Tim Barton) of Sebring, FL, Mike (Kadsanee) Birch of Wasilla, AK, and Curt Birch of Wasilla, AK; brother-in-law Steve Mattheisen: and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Adeline Birch, sister Janet Mattheisen, brother-in-law Ron Neuhaus, nephew Mitchell Birch, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Alan will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
