Alanna Rens, age 58 of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, January, 2, 2024, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at St. John's Catholic Church in Appleton. Fr. Brian Mandel will officiate. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Alanna LaRae Rens was born August 22, 1965, the daughter of Gregory Dean Ruether and Mary Lou (Johannsen) Miller, in Ortonville, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton, Minnesota.
Alanna grew up in the Appleton / Holloway area and attended Appleton High School. She lived in the area her entire life. She married Peter Casey Rens December 18, 1999, in Maynard, Minnesota.
Alanna enjoyed crafting, planting flowers, fishing, hunting, motorcycle rides, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Wild play hockey. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Alanna is survived by her husband Peter Rens of Appleton; children: Nicole Meyer of Appleton, Travis Rens of Appleton, Jessica Dittes of Appleton, and Tanna Rens (Scott Svingen) of Benson; four grandchildren: Charles Rolfsmeier, Tyler Rolfsmeier, Helen Lhotka, and Donovan Dittes; parents Greg Ruether and Mary Miller; siblings: Kimberly (Jim) Stock of Alberta, Lou Ellen Larson of Clear Lake, and Kristina Jordahl of Willmar; sister-in-law Jodie Ruether of Baxter; and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
Alanna was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Ruether.
