Albert Iver Johnson, the son of John I. and Edith B. (Parks) Johnson, was born on the family farm east of Appleton, Minnesota, on October 21, 1937. He was raised on the family farm and attended Appleton High School, where he graduated, Class of 1955. Albert also served in the Minnesota National Guard for several years.
Albert was a farmer through and through. He raised crops and livestock with his dad for many years and then continued to farm on his own until he “retired” from farming. Albert also worked at Prairie Correctional Facility for 10 years, retiring in 2003.
On September 10, 1966, Albert married JoAnne Carl in Appleton. They were blessed with 53 years together, 2 daughters, and 3 grandchildren. As a family, they enjoyed playing basketball, softball, horseback riding, and traveling. In later years, they enjoyed being with friends, whether it be going out to eat or playing cards, as well as attending their grandchildren’s activities. Al enjoyed watching sports and while playing cards, Al loved to see what he could get away with. The laughs he got when we figured out what he was up to? Priceless.
On Friday, March 27, 2020, Albert was reunited in Heaven with his parents and his sister, Joyce Brown. Albert is survived by his wife, JoAnne Johnson of Appleton; his loving daughters: Julie Johnson of Alexandria and Kristie Bredeson of Bloomington; grandchildren: Courtney, Ryan and Tyler Bredeson; sister, Arlene (Bob) Thompson of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Mary (Don) Kanten of Alexandria; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and their beloved cat, Skeeter. Rest in Peace, Albert. We love you and will miss you so very much.
