Allen Milo Landmark, 73, of Benson, Minn., died Thursday, October 29, 2020, at his home. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Allen Milo Landmark was born December 30, 1946 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Milo Ernest and Doris Olean (Vollan) Landmark. He was baptized at West Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Benson High School and North Hennepin Trade School.
Allen served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1972 and half of it was served overseas. He served in Munich Germany in the 24th Infantry Division and in South Korea in the 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. When he was home on leave Allen was united in marriage to LaVonne Marie Lind on March21, 1969 by the Justice of Peace in Sisseton, South Dakota. Allen was honorably discharged in 1972 with a rank of Sergeant. He and LaVonne moved to Minneapolis and he entered into Commercial and Residential Construction to become Foreman and then Superintendent.
Allen was a life member of VFW and of Painters Local 386 of Minneapolis. He also excelled in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and volunteered for American Red Cross. He enjoyed outdoor sports, Nascar, horses, old cars, helping others, and making other people smile.
Allen was called from this life Thursday, October 29, 2020 at his home. He attained the age of 73 years, 9 months and 29 days. He is survived by his step-daughters, Marie Chan of Aspen, CO and Michele Clinton of Park Rapids; daughters: Kristen (Doug) Whipps of Farmington, Corey Landmark of Alexandria, LA, and Melissa Landmark of Benson; grandchildren: Cameron, Cady, Brandon, Shay, Kayla, Amanda, Casie, Zachery, and Ashley; and great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Kinley, Bentley, Clive, and Clancy; siblings: Donna (Ray) Solt of Albertville, Marie (Bob) Young of Benson, Gary (Julie) Landmark of Benson, and Bruce (Julie) Landmark of Benson; sister-in-law, Judy Landmark of Golden Valley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne on May 8, 2018; his parents, Milo and Doris; step-father, Marlow Rassmussen; and brothers, Donald and George Landmark.
