Alvin Ray Jacobson

October 30, 1941 — March 26, 2022

Alvin Jacobson, age 80, of Benson, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, in his home.  Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Fr. Jeremy Kucera will officiate.  Burial will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Alvin Ray Jacobson was born in Morris, MN on October 30, 1941, to Lloyd and Eva (Miller) Jacobson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN.  He was raised with his five brothers on the home farm near Hancock.

He was married to Myrna Arneson of Benson on May 28, 1960, at St. Francis Church in Benson.  He farmed for a few years with his dad then moved from Hancock to Benson to work for Peterson Brothers Dairy.  After some years, he began working for his brother-in-law in masonry.  Over the years, he worked as a laborer in different fields and made many happy friendships.  He ended working for Tyler/Case Manufacturing for 20 years.  He especially enjoyed his seasons helping the Erdman’s bring in the harvest.

Al and Myrna enjoyed 61 years of marriage and had four daughters, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  They took many adventurous camping trips over the years and knew every state park in Minnesota.  They traveled to many places out west and around the U.S. making their way to Alaska after retiring.

Al really enjoyed his family, and his favorite hobby was shootin’ the breeze with family and friends at the Benson Bakery.  He loved to play cards.  His playful, farm boy sense of humor and easy laughter will not soon be forgotten and I’m sure Heaven is now witnessing that twinkle in his eye.

Al passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, in his home, surrounded by family, at the age of 80.  He is survived by his wife Myrna (Arneson) Jacobson, three daughters:  Teresa (Jeff) Guest, Deb (Toby) Johannessen, Bridget Bryant and son-in-law Dave Hanson, all of Benson; Eleven grandchildren:  Jake Hanson, Sam Hanson, Jacqui Hanson, Evan Guest, Tyler (Michelle) Guest, Brook Guest, Ramon (Hope) Johannessen, Tonya Johannessen, Eva Johannessen, Ethan Bryant and Mariah Bryant; and nine great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Marietta Jacobson, Pat Jacobson, Lynette (Larry) Houdek, Joyce Arneson, Barb Himley and Mike Arneson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Clifford Arneson, mother-in-law Frances Arneson; brothers Ervin (Arlene, Elaine) Jacobson, LeRoy Jacobson, Richard Jacobson, Wallace Jacobson and Delbert Jacobson and daughter Kimberly Hanson, Brothers-in-law Donald Arneson, Terrence (Audrey) Arneson, Edward Arneson, Clifford Jr. “Bud” Arneson and Marty Arneson.
