Audrey Critz, age 90 of Appleton, formerly of Louisburg, passed away Friday evening, April 29, 2022, in Appleton Area Health-Care Center. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Zniewski Funeral Home- Vaala Chapel in Appleton. Pastor Herbert Rotunda will officiate.
Audrey Marilyn Critz was born March 28, 1932, in New York Mills, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Edna (Rounokoski) Fiskari. Audrey was raised on the home farm near New York Mills. After graduating from New York Mills High School, she attended Teacher’s College. On June 18, 1955, Audrey was united in marriage to Bradley Wayne Critz at New York Mills. The couple was blessed with over 58 years together and two children: Sheila in 1958 and Mitchell in 1960.
Audrey and Brad moved from Minnesota to New Mexico in 1961, where she taught at the Laguna Acoma Indian Reservation. In 1964 the couple moved back to Minnesota, where Audrey taught in the Preston School District. She began working as a CNA in 1974 at the Clinton Care Center and in 1978 they moved to Louisburg, and she began working at the Appleton Municipal Nursing Home, where she remained until her retirement in 1994.
Audrey enjoyed her retirement. It gave her time to do some of her favorite things: crocheting, watching birds, and working in her garden. She was fluent in Finnish, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed reading, loved animals, and most of all she adored her family. Audrey moved into the Appleton Care Center in 2018.
Audrey passed away Friday evening, April 29, 2022, in Appleton Area Health-Care Center. She attained 90 years, 1 month and 1 day of age. Audrey is survived by her children: Sheila Cusick of Appleton and Mitchell (Julie) Critz of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren: Jessica (Adam) Peterka, Zachariah Cusick, Mikayla (Craig) Curry, and Kilie Cusick; five great-grandchildren: Josh Curry, Ethan Curry, Allison Curry, Everly Curry, and Bradley Cusick; her sister, JoAnn Duchesneau of Las Vegas, NM; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Critz in 2014; her parents, John and Edna Fiskari; her brothers: Harvey Fiskari and Kenny Fiskari; and her brother-in-law, Bob Duchesneau.
