Audrey Pearl Schliemann

Audrey Pearl Schliemann, 86, of Appleton, Minn., died Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Appleton Area Health Services. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Interment will be in Appleton City Cemetery.

Audrey Pearl (Byre) Schliemann was born on April 28, 1933 on the Byre farm in Hegbert Township, to the late Palmer Oscar Byre and Agnes Stenstuen. She was baptized on May 28, 1933 at Long Lake Church and confirmed on July 18, 1948. She grew up on the Byre family farm near Lake Oliver, attended Long Lake Grade School, and graduated from Appleton High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Elmer Frank Schliemann on April 2, 1955, and the couple settled on a farm in rural Holloway before moving to Appleton in 1996. This union was blessed with 6 children: Gary, Infant daughter, Daniel, Diane, Karen, and Kevin.

After graduating high school, Audrey worked as a bookkeeper at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Appleton and then as a housewife and mother after marriage. Later in life, she worked as a house cleaner and as a 'Grandma' at Appleton Elementary School.

Audrey was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Fairfield, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, attending Bible study, participating in the Dorcas Guild, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and Aid Association for Lutherans. She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton in 2012.

Audrey was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and a caring friend. She enjoyed having coffee with friends, cooking, baking sweets (she loved her sweets), canning, gardening, quilting, decorating for the seasons, attending her kids’ and grandkids’ events whether it was sports, music, or plays, and spending time with her grandkids.

Audrey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on, October 15, 2019, at the Appleton Care Center. She attained the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 17 days. Audrey is survived by her loving husband Elmer of Appleton, sons Daniel (Jody) Schliemann of Savage MN, Kevin (Billy Ulibarri) Schliemann of Albuquerque NM, and daughters Diane (Pete) Wagener of Annandale MN, and Karen (Curtis) Lee of Breckenridge MN. Ten Grandchildren: Jacob Schliemann, Samuel Schliemann, Hannah Schliemann, Dylan Wagener, Logan Wagener, Madelyn Wagener, Jasmine Bahr (Austin Jentz), Chase Lee, Jesse Lee, and Chyann Lee. One Great Grandchild, Avery Jentz; two sisters: Eileen (Lynden) Giese of Windom MN, and Clarice (Neil) Perseke of Milan MN, brother-in-law Neil Perseke, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Agnes (Stenstuen) Byre, brothers Duane Byre and Donald Byre, son Gary, infant daughter, brother-in-law Lynden Giese, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
