Burdette M. Kraft, 91, of Benson, passed away on Monday morning, October 12, 2020, at the Gabriel House in Murdock. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hancock, on Monday, October 19, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am.
Burdette Marvin Kraft was born April 29, 1929 in Paullina, Iowa, the son of Edward Walter and Freida (Langholz) Kraft. He was confirmed April 18, 1943 by Rev. E Kallsen at Zion Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Ocheyedan, attended grade school in Horton Township and graduated from Ocheyedan High School. Burdette served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
On August 19, 1955, Burdette was united in marriage to Pearl (Meyer) Kraft by Rev. F.E. Stern at Calvary Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Minnesota. They lived in Benson and Burdette worked for Dokken Machines, Tyler –Case, the City of Benson, and farming. Among the many things he enjoyed were woodworking, gardening, and fishing.
Burdette passed away October 12, 2020 at Gabriel House in Murdock. He attained the age of 91 years, 5 months and 13 days of age. He is survived by his wife, Pearl; children: Steven Kraft of Benson, David Kraft of Litchfield, Dale Kraft of Benson, James (Denise) Kraft of Alexandria, Paula Reinke of Benson, and Robert Reinke of Benson; grandchildren: Austin (Amber) Kraft, Amelia Kraft (fiancé Andrew Nelson), Dylan Reinke, Shyanne Reinke, and Lizzie Reinke; and sister-in-law, Margaret Kraft of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Freida Kraft; and siblings: Arnold (Leona) Kraft, Vernon (Rose) Kraft, Elmer (Mildred) Kraft, Leona (Earl) Skaar, Alvin Kraft, and Lester (Shirley) Kraft.
