Cary O Schmidt

Cary O. Schmidt, age 73, of Burnsville, formerly of the Appleton area, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at home in Burnsville, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held from 1–3 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at VFW Post #4955 in Appleton. A private, family interment will be held in Appleton City Cemetery.

Cary Orville Schmidt, son of Alvin and Evelyn Schmidt, was born on May 8, 1950, in Montevideo, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm near Correll, Minnesota and graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1968. Cary completed his education at Dunwoody Technical Institute and pursued a career in technology and communications until his retirement in 2013.

Cary was united in marriage to Yvonne Stock on October 7, 1972, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, Minnesota. They were blessed with two daughters, Sarah in 1978 and Kate in 1982.

Cary enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with his family. He particularly loved a sunny patio with good music, a vodka gimlet and a good cigar.

Cary is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters: Kate Schmidt and Sarah (Rolando) Schmidt de Carranza; grandchildren: Ivis Carranza Funez and Samantha Carranza Varela; sister, Cathy Olson; nephew, Chris (Becky) Olson; great nephews: Blake and Chase Olson; niece, Melissa (Robert) Enevoldsen; sister-in-law, Luann (Mark) Parrish; brother-in-law, Lee (Jackie) Stock; nieces: Kayla and Kalley Stock; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Evelyn Schmidt; his parents-in-law, Harry and Betty Stock; and his brother-in-law, Paul Olson.

He was well loved and will be missed beyond measure.
