Christine Elizabeth Tucholke

Christine Tucholke, age 96, of Appleton, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in Appleton Area Health –Care Center.  Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Pastor John Ramsbacher will officiate.  Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.

Christine Elizabeth Tucholke was born November 4, 1924, in Clara City, Minnesota to parents, Conrad and Lillian (Hempel) Stegeman.  She was baptized November 16, 1924, at the Lutheran Church in Clara City and was confirmed June 12, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran in Havelock Township.  Christine was raised in the Montevideo area, where she attended school.  On October 10, 1943, she married Marlowe Tucholke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Marlowe and Christine were blessed with four children: Harold, Susan, Joan, and Jane.

In 1948 they bought a farm outside of Odessa where they lived until 1975, when they built a new home on nearby land.  During that time they were members of Grace Lutheran Church in Correll and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville.  They sold the farm in 2005 and moved to Appleton where they joined Trinity Lutheran Church.

Christine was loved by all.  She will be remembered for her kindness and caring ways; always thinking of others.  She was the most loving, wonderful mother you could ever ask for.  Christine was sweet, kind, thoughtful…so easy to talk with and always spoke a kind word.  She was a hard-working farmer’s wife and contributed to all farm duties.  Christine loved to cook and bake.  She also loved her flowers.  Christine was Secretary/Treasurer of the Ladies Aid while attending Grace Lutheran Church in Correll and was also a member of a group called “The Circle” while attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, where she also served on committees for church events.

Christine passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in Appleton Area Health –Care Center.  She attained 96 years, 1 month, and 5 days of age.  Christine is survived by her four children: Harold of Lakeville, Susan of Fridley, Joan of Arizona, and Jane of Willmar; her five grandchildren: David (Mia) Tucholke, Dana (Scott) Nygaard, Darin (Katie) Tucholke, Jason Blilie, and Holly Hazelton; her three great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Lauren Nygaard, and Lucas Tucholke; and many loving family members and friends.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband Marlowe; her parents, Conrad and Lillian; her daughter-in-law, Neva Tucholke; two brothers: Harold (Betty) Stegeman and Riner (Eleanor) Stegeman; and her sister Ruth (Marvin) Radloff.
