Curtis D Olson

Curtis Olson, age 35, of Appleton, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Pastor Lynn Thomas will officiate.

Curtis Dean Olson was born December 26, 1987, in Ortonville, Minnesota, to Dean Curtis Olson and Kitt LaGail (Henkelman) Olson. He was baptized January 20, 1988, at United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, South Dakota. He was also confirmed at United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, South Dakota, May 23, 2003.

Curtis grew up in Ortonville and graduated from Ortonville High School.  On April 15, 2016, Curtis married Amy Marie Dockter at the Kandiyohi County Courthouse in Willmar, Minnesota. Curtis, Amy, and their children have lived in their home in Appleton since 2014.

Curtis worked as the store manager at The Meat Center in Appleton since 2017 but worked in the building as an employee since 2010. He enjoyed playing video games, camping, football, basketball, bonfires, and spending time with his children.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Amy Olson of Appleton; children: Shawn Ronnie Olson of Clements, Derrick Quinton Olson of Clements, Amber Leigh Olson of Appleton, and Kendall Reigh Olson of Appleton; mother, Kitt LaGail Olson of Appleton; sisters: Chastity Glomstad of Big Stone City, SD, and Cassandra Johnson of Willmar; grandmother, Doris Olson of Willmar; mother-in-law, Marie Mina Dockter of Ortonville; brothers-in-law: Chad Dockter of Watertown, SD and Kelly Dockter of Willow Lake, SD; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Dean Olson; grandparents: Alvin and Phyllis Henkelman and Leroy (Bud) Olson; uncle, Kevin Olson; and cousin, Shawn Henkelman.
