Dale Loren Geske

December 11, 1944 — October 23, 2019

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 27 th from 4-6 p.m. at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., Monday, October 28 th at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls.  Pastor Mike Soppeland will officiate.  Burial will be in the Lynd Cemetery at a later date.

Dale Loren Geske was born December 11, 1944 in Marshall, Minnesota, the son of Marvin Friedrich and Irene Elizabeth (Schultz) Geske. He was baptized in December, 1944 and was confirmed on March 30, 1958, both at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall. Dale was raised in the Lynd area, graduating from Lynd High School, Class of 1962. After high school he attended mechanics training with General Motors Company in Minneapolis. On November 20, 1965 Dale was united in marriage to Linda Burckhardt in Russell, Minnesota. This union was blessed with two children: Sandra and Chad.

Dale owned and operated the Standard Gas Station in Russell, was a mechanic for Brookdale Pontiac in Brooklyn Park, owned and operated the Red Eye Resort in Isle, and most recently, before his retirement, worked for JME Concrete in New London and Duininck Concrete in Benson. He enjoyed collecting tractors and attending tractor shows, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and was also a pilot. Dale was a member of the Benson Tractor Club, which he enjoyed greatly. He also truly enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Mesa, Arizona.

Dale passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in his home. He attained 74 years, 10 months, and 12 days of age. Dale is survived by his significant other, Louise Ferry of Swift Falls; his children: Sandra Leathers and Chad Geske, both of Arnolds Park, Iowa; his grandchildren: Jerome Craig Leathers and Katilee Leathers; “step-children”: Stephanie (Scott) Smith of Swift Falls, Shawna (Kenneth) Long of Celebration, FL, Sonja (Jason) Schwiderski of Benson, Gregor (Ashley) Ferry of New London, Kane (Laura) Ferry of Edina, and Jonathan (Chae) Ferry of Fargo, ND; 10 “step-grandchildren”; one “step-great-grandchild; siblings: Ina Geske of Detroit Lakes, Richard (Karen) Geske of Marshall, Wayne Geske of Rochester, Esther (Doug) Schmidt of Harlingen, TX, Naomi (Robert) Polzin of Hutchinson, Pat (Janice) Geske of New Ulm, Ronald (Claire) Geske of Marion, IN, Cynthia (Robert) Steinbeisser of Morton, Glenn Geske of Minnetrista, and Nelia (Dennis) Gary of Barry; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Irene Geske; brother, Lyle Geske; and granddaughter, Alizabeth Leathers. Blessed be the memory of Dale Loren Geske.
