Darlene Marie (Kashmark) Gavin was born June 4, 1940, the second of ten children to parents John and Evelyn (Nelson) Kashmark. She graduated from Milan High School in 1958. She married Wayne Peterson in February 1960, making their home in Crystal, MN with their children, Douglas and Gayle.

In 1981, Dar married Bill Gavin and gained two stepsons, Richard and Brian. Dar and Bill resided in Crystal, MN where Dar worked at St. Therese Care Center in the accounting department, retiring just a few years ago. Together they enjoyed trips to see Bill’s family in Illinois and many family gatherings here in Minnesota. They shared a favorite pastime of occasional trips to casinos near home and Las Vegas. They were a fun couple to be around and enjoyed their 39 years together, until Bill’s passing on Christmas Day, 2020.

Since Bill’s passing, Dar has been very lonely but has enjoyed those family get togethers when possible. She came from a large family with nine brothers and sisters who’ve stayed very close over the years. She loved family Christmases back in Appleton. Dar and Bill will be sadly missed.

He worked for the Gamble Corporation in Monmouth, then transferred to the Minneapolis Headquarters as a buyer. It later became Coast to Coast Hardware.

Sports played a big part in Bill’s life. He could tell you statistics on players and games from years ago to present day. He loved watching games, especially his favorite, Notre Dame. Bill also enjoyed casinos, both here at home and Las Vegas. Bill and Dar were married in 1981, they enjoyed 39 years together. They were a fun couple to be with. With Bill’s great sense of humor and gift for telling the best stories, he was everyone’s favorite to be around. He’s greatly missed.
