Delores Leona Schaaf

Delores “Dee” Schaaf was born on February 13, 1926, in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the daughter of Gerhard and Minnie Christenson  Goulson. She was baptized an April 8, 1926, by Pastor E.J. Strom at the Church of America in Watson, Minnesota. She grew up in the Benson area and graduated from Benson High School. She worked at the Fannie Farmer Chocolate company in Minneapolis. On November 16, 1946, Dee was united in marriage to Donald Schaaf at the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff, by Father Russell Doerer. To this union three sons were born. Together they were able to share in over 54 years of marriage. Dee and Don owned and operated Barduson Electric for over 20 years. She sold glassware and fine china inside the Barduson store. She loved her small china business and had done many bridal registries.

Dee was a member of the VFW ladies Auxillary, Sons of Norway, and Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting blankets, gardening especially roses, dancing, playing cards, and celebrating the Holidays with a big family meal. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was called from this life on Friday morning, June 19, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

She is survived by her sons David Schaaf of Menominee, Wisconsin, Richard (Mary Jo) Schaaf of Benson, and Todd (Wanda)  Schaaf of Starbuck, grandchildren Brenden (Heather) Schaaf, Katie Schaaf, JoLynn  (Andy) Sundstrom, Jennie (Justin) Polzin, Tory (Christina) Schaaf, Mitchell Schaaf, and Reed Schaaf; great grandchildren Annalise, Riley, Logan, Kaelyn, Aubrey, Brody, Landen, Kailyn, Madilyn, and Aubrey;  a great great grandchild Bailor, and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerhard and Minnie Goulson, Husband Don Schaaf, a granddaughter Mindi, her siblings and their spouses Orville and Dorothy Goulson, Arnold and Muriel Goulson, Marlys and Kenneth Erdahl, and Frances and Milton Kottke. Blessed be her memory.

A private family service will be held. The public is invited to a graveside service at 1:45 at Benson City Cemetery.
