Deloris C. Smith

Deloris C. Smith, 89, Benson, MN, died Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 am. Deloris C. Smith, age 89, was born on September 17, 1932 in Kerkhoven Township, Swift County, MN, the daughter of Charley and Johanna (Franzmier) Kliche. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended school until the 8 ^th grade.

Deloris was united in marriage to LeRoy “Sonny” L. Smith on October 13, 1951 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, MN. They were united in marriage for over 69 years. Deloris had worked for the Viking's Cafe where she met her husband, Arthurs Motel, Paris Hotel, Raangards Café, Sale Barn Café and the Benson Bakery. She enjoyed cooking, having beautiful vegetables and flower gardens,  helping on the farm and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Deloris is survived by her children: David (Julie) Smith of Benson, MN and Diane (Tom) Wyffels of Benson, MN; grandchildren: Aaron (Sonja) Smith, Sonya (Greg) Pobuda and Charlene (Kent) Coners; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents: Charley and Johanna Kliche; her husband: LeRoy “Sonny” Smith on December 24, 2020; her granddaughter: Jessica Smith; her grandson: Jamie Wyffels; one sister: Dorothy Kurkosky, a sister in infancy, Irene, and one brother: William Kliche.
