Donald Rae DuHoux, age 83, passed away Thursday, March 12, at Scandi Haven Village under Hospice and the outstanding care of the staff at Scandi. Donald Rae DuHoux was born May 19, 1936 on the family farm, Clara City, MN, the son of Lambert and Alvina (Sell) DuHoux. He attended country school #44 and graduated from Clara City High School in 1954. On October 7, 1954, he married Marilyn Cummings, they later divorced. Don moved to Arizona where he had a cab service and did construction work. He returned to Minnesota after suffering a stroke. He met and married Rose Newton on March 9, 1991. They purchased 10 acres of pasture land where Don raised sheep and lambs. When he was unable to continue due to physical restraints, the land, sheep and equipment were sold.

Don will be remembered by his grandchildren as a gentle, humorous and loving man. He never let his disability stop him from functioning normally. He was no longer able to hunt or fish, but he continued to enjoy reading his hunting magazines and watching DVDs having to do with hunting and wildlife.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Michael (Sally) DuHoux, Robert DuHoux, Leslie (Mark) Yunker, and Michelle (Michael) Birchem. Also his children through marriage, Nick (Jenny) Newton, Wayne (Halee) Newton, Tim (Jillian) Newton, Kathy Miller and partner Jason Delcamp; grandchildren, Kelly DuHoux, Michael (Jamie) DuHoux Jr., Katie Yunker, Anna Younker, Aaron DuHoux, Adam DuHoux, Taylor Birchem, and Sarah Birchem; and grandchildren through marriage, Ryan Newton, Danny Jewitt, Sydney, Sam and Jill Newton, Erica (Isaac) Kindt, Rylee, Jack and Claire Newton, Jacob, Elle and Tyler Miller. Don’s great-grandchildren, Ethan and Norah Kindt; and twin sister, Donna Lilleberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Alvina DuHoux; brothers, Harold and Loren DuHoux; and sisters, Ione Plowman, Sarlene Seeman, Elaine Magnuson, and Lollie Steffen.
