Doris Koosmann, age 94, of Appleton, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in RenVilla Health Center in Renville. A private, family burial will be held in Appleton City Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 no service is planned at his time.
Doris Marie Asher Koosmann was born in Canby, Minnesota on December 17, 1925 to parents Raymond (Bert) and Lydia (Hansen) Asher. Doris graduated from Canby High School in 1944 and Granite Falls Teachers School in 1945. She taught school in Canby for one year and later for two years (1956-1958) at District 59 in rural Appleton, MN.
She married Berthold Koosmann on June 20, 1946. This union was blessed with 73 years together and three children: Lois, Steven and Ann. The couple resided at the Koosmann Family Home farm in Fairfield Township until moving to Skyview Plaza, Morris, in 2019.
Doris was very social and belonged to many clubs and groups. She was a volunteer with Lutheran Brotherhood and the Swift County historical Society. She was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as Ladies Aid President for many years.
Doris passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Renvilla Health Care Center due to Covid-19. She attained 94 years, 11 months and 7 days of age. Doris is survived by two daughters, Lois Mielke of Appleton and Ann (Todd) Anderson of Coon rapids; 2 grandchildren: Graham Koosmann and Catherine Koosmann both of St Louis, MO ; sister-in-law Carol Koosmann of Crystal; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert on January 29, 2020,; her son Steven in 2018; her sister, Ruth Osmond; brothers-in-law: Martin (Lydie), Sieghart (Verna), Werner (Irene), Wilbert (Ella), John (Bernice) and Richard Koosmann: and sister-in-law, Marie Koosmann.
