Duane E. Neuhaus, 91, of Benson, Minnesota, died on Monday evening, November 11, 2024, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will continue Saturday, November 16, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. The burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Zniewski Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Duane Eldon Neuhaus was born on June 7, 1933, in Swenoda Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Emil John and Laura Christine (Larson) Neuhaus. He was baptized on July 9, 1933, by the Rev. Paul Priesz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Benson and he was confirmed on May 18, 1947, by the Rev. Erwin Vaudt at St. John’s. He attended grade school at District #94 and graduated from Benson Senior High School. Duane served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956.
On November 30, 1957, Duane was united in marriage to Doris Gjerdingen by the Rev. Karl Ansorge at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson. This union was blessed with over 67 years of marriage. Duane spent his entire life farming in Cashel Township. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was called from this life on Monday evening, November 11, 2024, at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson. He attained the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 4 days of age.
Duane is survived by his wife Doris of Benson; his children Brenda (Scott) Nelson of Benson, Bradley (Pam) Neuhaus of Benson, and Beth (Mike) Mattheisen of Benson; six grandchildren, Laura, Darrin, Cassandra, Mitchell, Dylan, and Reanna; four great grandchildren Lilly, Riley, Caleb and Nova; a sister Beverly Mead; and nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Laura, four siblings Donald Neuhaus, La Verne Neuhaus, Barbara Connelly, and Ronald Neuhaus. Blessed be his memory.
